Trevi Fountain
August 17, 2019
I took myself to the Trevi Fountain. There’s lots of things I didn’t get to do but the Trevi Fountain was on my must list.
I set out to take the bus. The Termini was a block from the Hotel Palladium Palace. I couldn’t find the bus I was looking for so I opted for the Taxi. Hey, I’m on vacation.
The Trevi Fountain is charming. I’m not the only one who thinks so, I had to wait and jockey for position. Everyone in the crowd seemed so happy and at one point there was a cross fountain chant. Perhaps, a young adult tour group.
My seat mate on the plane a young Italian born woman going to visit family in Rome said they would often drive by the fountain when out for the evening. I’m sure she was using an Americanized version of “drive by” because no cars are allowed in the area.
I threw two dimes over my shoulder into the fountain for Bob.
The Colosseum tour guide suggested not eating near the fountain because it would be pricey. I walked two blocks and went up a side street and found a café. I had pasta with pesto because I could read it on the menu. I’ve been choosing most of my meals by picture.
I wandered about a little bit. I’m not a souvenir buyer and usually what catches my eye it too large or too expensive to bring home. I did get some gelato, I’m behind on the quota and had a great cherry vanilla. It’s not a favor that I would look for at home but it was very appealing in the case and I had chocolate earlier in the day.
Laney would like to know that I chose a cone rather than a cup and they gave me a tiny cone with to use as a spoon. I ate it all.
I arrived at a major street and it was also a bus stop. Score! The bus I needed stopped there and going in the right direction. I feel totally useless with the Italian but my problem-solving skills are ace. By osmosis I think Juanita has spent years preparing me for this.
I am enjoying your photos and travel writings. Janet
That was smart to eat away from the fountain area. Seems like you are really getting yourself around very well.
