LaMama Umbria

For the next ten days I’ll be living in a 12 century dwelling slightly updated.  There are twenty of us spread spread over the property.  Itself makes me wish that I did watch Game of Thrones.  It’s all stone and its many rooms have a layout that would make Joanna and Chip Gaines cringe.  It has a lovely courtyard where we eat our meals, which so far have been spectacular but very unusual.  Last night was grilled tomatoes, slices of beef, a grain thingy I think faro and a cheesy quiche and a pizza but not tomato sauce.  Two fantastic desserts a cake that was made from a crunchy pastry, an apple strudel and almond cookies.  Today for lunch was salad, lemon risotto, grilled zucchini and a broccoli rabe.

Here’s a view of the grounds.

This is my room.  Yes I have a roommate. There’s no air conditioning either.

This is our meeting outside meeting area.

  1. Amazing. I am always taken aback when I put my hand on a stone from a place of such history and think of someone from that time doing the same thing and wondering what they were thinking at that moment.
