In Service
August 2, 2017
I drove over to St. Benedict’s Academy for the diocesan teacher orientation. The campus and it is a huge campus is modern, clean and huge. The orientation itself was a reminder that praying in the classroom is not only ok but preferred and the basic payroll and insurance information.
In this neck of the woods everyone drives A LOT. I’m glad that they invented WAZE, cause I don’t leave home without it! Everything is a half hour away and involves a highway.
Inservice-which will last until Monday, students arrive on Tuesday, not only for the length of time is monotonous. As both the counselor and as a sub so little of it has any meaning to me at all.
I’ve made a friend of the new English teacher. Cheryl is very anxious to get started. Although she is older, this is her first high school teaching experience. She had to go to an AP English Conference in Ole Miss and stayed with Juanita. Cheryl introduced me to Memphis road rage when exiting the parking lot and the mime behind us annoyed her in the rearview mirror.
I’ve driven in Manhattan and have never had that experience. Six cars does not a traffic jam make.
