These flowers are in the garden and I wanted a picture for this post.

We started at 9am.  Lisa made a few comments and we were in the Writers Army from 10am-1pm.  This is how it works you join a room of other writers and you start writing or typing. You must be there before it starts and with the exception of perhaps a quick bathroom break you stay until in end in silence.  In the first two days I accomplished 12 pages.  Twelve very neat pages.  I’m working directly in Final Draft so I can make notes without leaving the work.  There was a scene that I thought should be more intense but did really know how. I made a note and moved on.  By 1pm everyone was tired.

Lunch happens at 1:30. We eat outside because we can. LaMama Umbria is not air-conditioned. So you follow the shade.  It’s hot and Italy’s definition of air conditioning as a whole is not mine.  I think it’s hotter than Memphis or Oxford, MS.  No one has better air conditioning than Memphis.

Except for breakfast with is cereal, yogurt, cheese and bread and jelly. The food is spectacular, leaning towards vegetarian.  One of today’s lunch items was fried zucchini blossoms.  I took one thinking it was a chicken leg but I wasn’t disappointed.

  1. If you were here, I would give you my zucchini blossoms and you could fry them up — find out how they did it. Of course I can go on YouTube and get the recipe, but everybody tweaks their recipes. I like that three hour writing idea.

  2. I love zucchini blossoms
But have always failed at preparing them.

Do they have ice? The worst part of Europe in the heat is not so much the lack of AC but that compounded with not being able to get a cold, cold drink. Nanny and I have a good story about that from our summer trip to Paris.

  3. This is so cool. I’m totally blown away by all you have accomplished and continue to do in honing your craft 👍👍👍
